Avatech Cycle 2 Demo Day


Finally after 6 months of effort and hard work, cycle 2 teams of Avatech had their Demo Day last Thursday.

These teams which were among all accepted 20 teams to join pre-acceleration program, started to work from Avatech by the middle of May. After 2 months they had their Selection Day and these 10 teams were selected to continue their presence at acceleration program for 4 more months. During this period they were provided with more workshops, mentorship sessions, seed fund and other services. The last 4 weeks before Demo Day the teams were intensively working on their pitches through several pitch practicing sessions.

And finally the second Demo Day arrived. Avatech hosted over 200 guests during this event. Local and international investors, mentors, media, speakers and other guests were invited.

The event started with Mohsen Malayeri‘s speech followed by Max Gurvits’ keynote regarding lessons learned and also suggestions to improve the startup ecosystem in Iran.

Next speaker was the CEO of Sarava. Said Rahmani referred to the fact that empowering Iranian startups will certainly avoid the brain-drain.

Later Mohsen Malayeri hosted a panel with the subject of investing in Iranian startups based on real stories. Here we should thank our great panelists, Ramin Komeilian, Shiva Saadat, Arash Vafadari, Max Gurvits and Sorusch Amiri for sharing their insights with the audience.


After a short break teams started their 6 minutes pitches. The first team was Namlik which presented their platform created for curated audio content. They got about 65,000 listens during the last 4 months and their mobile application was downloaded over 7,000 times.

The next one was SportUp which is a service to connect people to sports community. After the application was launched a month ago they acquired 30 sport clubs along with 200 signed up users.

Cortado was the 3rd team to pitch their café management solution providing remote access to the cafes for café owners. They were able to provide 30 cafes with their management solution and handle over 5,000 transactions.

The 4th startup was Nikprint, an easy web-service for online design and print orders with free delivery. They delivered 130 orders among which 50 of them were online.

The next team to pitch was SmartBeen which is a smart climate controller enabling greenhouse owners to manage and control everything in greenhouse. 9 greenhouses are now smart thanks to SmartBeen.

Our game studio Hexy Pixel then presented their current game. Farm Thief is a combination of MMO and online games. Farm Thief got featured in Café Bazaar (Iranian android market) and was downloaded more than 40,000 times.

Parvaneh, a marketplace for unique handmade products and handicrafts did the 7th pitch. Until now Parvaneh has 215 items on its website. Currently they have 16 artisans and have been able to sell 55 items.

The next startup was PayPing, the first P2P payment platform for individuals and businesses. They pivoted from Bitvam to PayPing in less than a month. They experienced 200% weekly growth, 700 users and 150 transactions.

The 9th team was Rangitar, an Iranian stock photo marketplace providing high quality photos relevant to local customs and culture. They have 4,000 online photos, 600 photographers and 1,000 signed up users.

And the last but not least was Dimana, a cloud-based software solution for real estate agencies. Dimana has 6,000 unique visitors and over 100 files online.

The program then continued with an exhibition in the work space where teams were able to meet investors and guests and discuss more about their activities and achievements.
