Last week Avatech opened its doors for the first time, welcoming the 20 selected teams to start the eight weeks of Pre- Accelerator at Avatech.
After a first screening and two rounds of interviews and pitches, we were able to select 20 promising teams for Avatech’s first cycle. The selected teams and their businesses cover a wide range of topics such as Online Education, distributing Audio Books online, News- and PR- platforms, a Project Management Software, a Decoration tool using augmented reality to help people decorating their houses and many more.
We started the Pre-Accelerator with a Kickoff event with all the teams, local mentors and many supporters. The event was filled with speeches about entrepreneurship in general and the Iranian startup scene. The teams got an introduction to the program of the next eight weeks and got an overview about our local and international mentors. Some local mentors like Hamid Mohammdi (digikala), Shayan Shalileh (anetwork), Hessam Armandehi (CafeBazaar) and Hamid Rezazadeh (Pichak) even came on stage to share their experience.
After a short break we welcomed Morteza Almalhoda from Pichak as speaker who shared some of his insights on building a startup. Last but not least the teams had the chance to introduce themselves and their ideas as elevator pitch. The event ended with some networking so everybody had the chance to get to know each other.
After the opening the teams could not wait to start working. We had a first week filled with workshops, pitches, mentor and feedback sessions and teams working hard to move forward.
The next weeks will be filled with more workshops on topics like Customer Development, Marketing and Sales, Metrics and many more topics. We will also have lots of sessions and our teams will have the chance to speak to local and international mentors. We are looking forward to seven more great weeks and lots of progress.
