Interview with Avatech Cycle 3 teams: Part 9 – Germinal

Germinal is our cycle 3 hardware startup. Amir, Hasan and Ali are co-founders of this team and their first product is a tracker. We had an interview with Amir about what their startup and what they actually do.

Avatech: What is Germinal?

Amir: Germinal is a hardware startup that works on IoT products and smart devices. Our first product is a smart electronic device that helps people not to lose their phone, wallet and …

Avatech: Where does the idea of Germinal come from?

Amir: Three of us were students in Shahroud University and from the begging we’ve done lots of things to start a business and while we were studying we created some teams, but most of the times teams were separated. During the last year of university, Ali was working on the project of building a lamp with the ability of changing the color using wireless connection to an app.  We came to Avatech with this idea and after a lot of customer interview we figured out that it’s not the right time for introducing this product to market so we were pivoting to Findima which is a tracker device.

Avatech: What value does Germinal create?

Amir: Building smart interactions and making life easier and smarter. Our first product (Findima) saves a lot of time and energy for those who lose their stuff.

Avatech:How do you see the future for yourself and your startup? How do you plan for the future?

Amir: By now we managed to reach our goal on Findima’s pre-order campaign and we have planned to develop our market share and produce more Findimas and also we have planned to produce our next product in IoT industry.

Avatech: What challenges are on your way to grow?

Amir: One of our biggest difficulties as an IoT startup in Iran is mass production. Lack of resources for producing from one hand, and on the other hand high cost of R&D are the obstacles in front of IoT startups.

Avatech: How did you get to know Avatech?

Amir: Form Startup Grind event.

Avatech: How has your experience been with Avatech?

Amir: It has been great so far and one of the best experiences in our lives. We have learned from Avatech how to grow fast and how to make clear decisions.

Avatech: What keeps you motivated during though moments?

Amir: Hope for a great future.

Avatech: If you could talk to people who want to start a startup, what would be your advice?

Amir: As a friendly advice from a person who had some experience in hardware startups, I would say: Just try to create a good team because good team leads to faster progress.

Avatech: What is the biggest lesson you learned from the start of your project up to now?

Amir: Get feedback from other people, think about it and at last try to do what you think is right.
