In Avatech, we decided to interview our startups to let you know the story behind them and get familiar with the way they are working. Be with us, in the series of startup stories.
This week, we sat down with the team from KSNA (www.ksna.ir) and talked about their challenges, their focus areas and their features. KSNA is an online tutorial marketplace in Persian language. Their team consists of three people which are Mohammad Rashidi (Co- founder & CEO), Faraz Radparvar (Co-Founder & Marketing) and Human Najafpoor (Co-Founder, Design & Multimedia):
Q: Why did you build KSNA?
Mohammad: Users in Iran do not have access to verified Persian language video tutorials with affordable price and qualified teachers. There isn’t any one-stop shop marketplace and all of existing ones have low quality video tutorials, are in personal websites, Youtube, Facebook or Aparat. Furthermore, even if instructors are producing videos, they do not have any knowledge of production, marketing and handling infrastructure. KSNA is solving these problems by providing production know-how & marketing tools to instructors in addition to a Marketplace with a very qualified infrastructure. Users in KSNA have access to a pool of verified Persian language video tutorials both free & premium.
Q: How did KSNA start and are you planning to expand to other fields?
Human: It started with Web Design, Coding, Photography and VFX, because our team members are expert and potentially we know lots of experts in this fields. For sure, we will expand to other fields during our growth plan.
Q: Who is your target audience?
Faraz: We have two types of users in our website:
- Those who want to learn and they are looking for high quality videos in Farsi.
- Those who have the knowledge but need support to produce their content.
Q: What makes KSNA special regarding to other international learning platforms?
Human: If you go to our website, you will see that there are no advertisements, you don’t need to scroll to pass the advertisements and reach to your content. You are just a few clicks away from your content.
Mohammad: We are not another learning platform, we are not copying them. We started to observe our users and their behaviors and see what is important for them, what are their needs and what are they looking for. Our content is accessible through PC, tablet and mobile to let our users learn easily and the goal of KSNA is letting everyone to learn easily.
Faraz: We are supporting the content producers and teaching them how to create high quality contents. We are giving them scenarios, enough resources and provide them with the feedback of our users. It is not about starting and recording the video, it is about the way that this content will be useful for our users.
Q: How is Avatech helping you?
Mohammad: In my opinion the main problem of Iranian startups is having focus and concentration. They are doing everything except focusing on their main product. Avatech helped us by removing the barriers like financial issues and business knowledge. For example in the past we had financial problems, we had to work in several more projects to provide financial support for our main idea and it completely destroyed our focus and concentration.
Human: An other important help is the tips and tricks that Avatech mentors are giving to us without any hesitation.
Q: What is the story of your team?
Mohammad: We are working together since more than 2 years in Shiraz. We organized 3 Startup Weekend in Shiraz & Marvdasht. We have been working on two startups, named ‘We Review’ & ‘Educational Text base platform’. And now, we moved to Tehran for our startup, living together and focusing on KSNA.
Q: Any hardships during building KSNA?
Mohammad: We built KSNA a long time ago and during this time, although it won several international and local prizes like World Summit Youth Award 2010’ or Best Educational Websites of Iran Web Festival awards for 4 years, but our old business model in KSNA didn’t work and we failed. After this failure, we studied lean startup methodologies and tried to figure out our mistakes. After 1 year we restarted KSNA with the new business model and right now we have an enormous growth.
